Original Zechstein magnesium oil contains only magnesium chloride and water: nothing else.
Due to the high concentration of magnesium chloride, the magnesium oil feels oily on the skin, although it is not an oil. This is how the name magnesium oil came about.

Magnesium oil – the transdermal application
The magnesium oil is sprayed directly onto the skin, enters the blood through the skin and is distributed throughout the body via the circulatory system. This transdermal (= through the skin) application enables the body to absorb 100% of the magnesium contained.
Use the original Magnesium Fluid spray bottle and spray:
- 2 - 10 sprays twice a day
onto the skin. Gently massage in the magnesium oil. Depending on the magnesium requirement, of course more often and more.
Magnesium is fully absorbed within 15 minutes. You can then – if you wish – wash off the magnesium oil again without hesitation.
INFO: A fine, white powder may remain on the skin. These are the leftover, all-natural components of the magnesium chloride (e.g. salt) found in magnesium oil.
When the magnesium oil is applied to the skin, a slight tingling sensation can - but does not have to - be felt. This is normal and indicates that the magnesium is being absorbed.

Where should I NOT use the magnesium oil:
The highly concentrated magnesium chloride solution can cause a burning sensation on open wounds or in the eyes.
Do not spray the magnesium oil in the eyes, on mucous membranes, on open wounds or on freshly shaved areas. If it does happen, simply wash off with plenty of water.
Keep away from children.
Magnesium chloride bath
Bathing in Magnesium:
Magnesium chloride baths or foot baths are the ideal supplement when taking magnesium. They can be very beneficial, nurturing and relaxing. They have a relaxing and constructive effect after physical exertion and care for the skin.
Use Zechstein Magnesium Flakes or Magnesium Chloride from the Dead Sea for this.
Magnesium chloride full bath:
- dissolve 800 g of magnesium chloride in the bath
- allow as little water as possible to run in, your body should only be barely covered
- enjoy the relaxing bath at 37 degrees for 20 - 30 minutes
Concentrations for the full bath:
- 800 g of magnesium chloride in 40 liters of water = 1 percent solution
- 1600 g of magnesium chloride in 40 liters of water = 2 percent solution
More than a 2% magnesium chloride solution for a full bath is not recommended!
Higher concentrations could irritate the mucous membranes.
Magnesium chloride foot bath
Foot bath with magnesium
Your body can also absorb magnesium through the skin by taking a foot bath with magnesium chloride. It is then available to the whole body. The footbath is quickly prepared and can be carried out easily. A foot bath achieves a higher concentration of magnesium chloride than a full bath. Use the footbath for that extra kick of magnesium.
Use Zechstein Magnesium Flakes or Magnesium Chloride from the Dead Sea for this.
Magnesium chloride foot bath:
- Dissolve 300g of magnesium chloride in 5 liters of water in your foot bath
- let your feet relax at 37 degrees for 20 – 30 minutes
Concentrations for the footbath:
- 100 g of magnesium chloride in 5 liters of water = 1 percent solution
- 200 g of magnesium chloride in 5 liters of water = 2 percent solution
- 300 g of magnesium chloride in 5 liters of water = 3 percent solution
- 400 g of magnesium chloride in 5 liters of water = 4 percent solution
More than a 4% solution of magnesium chloride for a foot bath is not recommended!

Magnesium Fluid – Magnesium Oil (27%):
The normal dosage for healthy people is:
- 2 x 10 - 20 sprays daily.
Depending on your personal needs, the recommended dose of pure magnesium may increase.

First test the spray performance of your spray bottle: The spray performance of the Original Zechstein Magnesium Fluid – magnesium oil in a 200 ml bottle is approx. 0.166 ml per sprayer (no guarantee).
An original Zechstein Magnesium Fluid spray bottle of 200 ml therefore contains 18 grams of pure magnesium.
Dosage at a glance:
- 10 sprays Magnesium Fluid = 1.6 ml = 150 mg pure magnesium
- 20 sprays Magnesium Fluid = 3.3 ml = 300 mg pure magnesium

Magnesium Fluid Sensitive (20%):
Our Magnesium Fluid Sensitive has a unique concentration: it is gentle and yet the dose is as high as possible. We can keep the concentration that high because we are using extra soft water. This makes the application on the skin pleasantly gentle.
Since the magnesium chloride concentration in Magnesium Fluid Sensitive is reduced to around 20%, you must increase the dosage recommendations mentioned above in order to enjoy the same amount of magnesium.

Just because the term "Zechstein" cannot be protected or registered as a geographical term, unfortunately does not mean that all magnesium products that contain the term "Zechstein" are of good quality.
The Zechstein Sea stretches across large parts of northern Europe, and not all of this large area has been naturally deposited with high-quality magnesium chloride. In many places only very inferior magnesium chloride is found, which is used in industry or as de-icing salt in winter, but is not suitable for use on humans. It can lead to side effects if such industrial magnesium chloride - available for example in large bags at a low price - is used. Heavy impurities can also be included. Therefore, be sure to look out for the protected original "Zechstein Inside" logo, which all our Zechstein products bear.
High-quality magnesium oil has a concentration of approx. 27% magnesium chloride. Harmful germs and bacteria have no chance of surviving in this environment, so it has a long shelf life even without the addition of chemical preservatives.

origin and extraction
In nature, magnesium occurs in a bound form as magnesium chloride. Aeons ago, magnesium was dissolved in water as a component of the seas. As these seas began to dry up, the magnesium was deposited like a layer on the sea floor. Over the course of millions of years, Earth's tectonics have lowered the sea floor by up to 2000 meters and covered it with layers of rock and earth. So it was spared from environmental influences for a long time.
Today we benefit from the original purity of magnesium chloride. The substance is retrieved from its subterranean hiding place using sophisticated methods. Water is pumped into the deep layers of the earth, which dissolves the magnesium chloride. Once the solution is saturated at 31%, it is pumped back to the surface. The magnesium oil obtained in this way is absolutely pure and can be used immediately.
The original "Zechstein Inside" magnesium products are mined in Holland near Veendam and bottled in Germany.
Magnesium oil contraindications
You should not take or use any magnesium products if you suffer from the following or other ailments or illnesses:
- Kidney disease
- heart disease
or if you are taking the following or other medications:
- kidney medication
- heart medication
- Antibiotics
- iron supplements
If in doubt, ask your doctor or naturopath before taking or using.
Make your own magnesium oil
Would you like to make magnesium oil yourself? This is very simple. You only need water and magnesium chloride. One liter of original Zechstein magnesium oil (31%) contains around 600 grams of magnesium chloride.
From a chemical point of view, magnesium chloride also consists of water, so this calculation results.
However, please note the following:
The original Zechstein magnesium oil is extracted directly from the earth and can be used immediately without post-processing.
Zechstein's magnesium flakes are made from this magnesium oil in a complex drying process. It is therefore not recommended to use these flakes to make magnesium oil again. This manufacturing process produces additional undesirable substances through a normal chemical reaction. These can have undesirable effects at higher concentrations. The magnesium flakes are only approved as a bath additive and not for ingestion. For ingesting magnesium chloride, we recommend magnesium chloride from the Dead Sea.
Only the original Zechstein magnesium oil is suitable for application to the skin due to its quality and purity.
