Protein
Superfood
Protein as a dietary supplement for athletes - quality is everything!
Whey, soy or peas - there are many opinions as to which protein is best for whom. We believe that everyone should buy the protein powder they believe in. We ensure that the quality is right. But what does that actually mean for protein powder: the quality is right?
Proteins are essential for building muscle because they provide the amino acids you need post-workout. Conversely, this means: protein powder consists of protein and nothing else. 100% pure protein, no sugar, no fat - that's the best quality.
Proteins are made up of amino acids, and which amino acids are contained in the powder and in what proportion depends on what the protein was derived from.
Protein of the highest purity
Whey protein, in German whey protein, is particularly common as a protein powder. Because this protein powder is considered to be easily digestible and very balanced in terms of nutritional values. In most cases, however, protein powder is not pure protein isolated from whey. The various manufacturers put the preparation together from whey protein, whey protein isolate and peptides. The peptides are obtained from hydrolyzed whey. In order to achieve a balanced mix of all the required amino acids, the branched-chain amino acids BCAA are often added.
This is for example at Gold Standard by Optimum Nutrition so. Incidentally, whether it is a protein concentrate or a protein isolate makes a difference: Whey protein powder (concentrate) usually has a protein content of 80 percent. Whey protein isolate, on the other hand, contains 90 percent protein. If manufacturers mix isolate into the protein powder, the protein content (in percent) in the product is increased. Incidentally, the products in our range all contain 19 to 25 grams of pure protein per serving.
Blend Protein: More than a protein source
Is vegetable protein inferior to protein of animal origin? Sometimes discussions about the best protein give that impression. But in the end, all protein powders are just amino acids in different compositions. And because you should eat a balanced and varied diet, we also have protein mixtures in our range. The so-called blends consist of proteins that have been extracted from various sources. Vegan protein powder is
exclusively about vegetable proteins. For building muscle, these vegan protein powders are just as good or bad as the animal protein alternatives. For vegans, however, they are much more valuable! Because of course you don't want to do without a beautiful body with clearly defined muscles, but only food of animal origin. Manufacturers of plant-based protein powders often do even more: They do without all artificial additives. Flavors, sweeteners and other additives are not available from manufacturers like MyProtein. Instead, there is Vegan protein blend from MyProtein made from 100 percent pure protein, obtained from beans and peas.
Hemp seeds and goji berries: Even more plant-based protein
While the vegan blends at MyProtein are made from legumes (which are considered to be very high-protein plants), the German manufacturer Sunwarrior also uses other plant-based protein sources. In addition to peas, peas, hemp seeds and goji berries, rice, quinoa and amaranth can provide the protein for the various protein powders. So it's really about mixtures here, because very different plants are processed. Sunwarrior offers certified organic quality in various flavors, uses no soy and ensures a balanced ratio of the amino acids it contains. For example ours Sunwarrior – Classic Protein Powder ORGANIC.
Whether a protein blend or an isolate, single-variety protein, vegan protein powder or, better, proteins from animal sources are effective is open to debate. What we definitely don't discuss is the quality. The protein powders put together in our range all deliver the high quality that you expect from us.
Proteins are a useful supplement to the diet
In particular, athletes who eat a vegan diet have problems getting the recommended daily amount of protein. Protein powders can be a useful addition to your diet. Typically, the protein is mixed with water or other liquid and consumed in the amount specified by the manufacturer. However, some products are also excellent for cooking and baking, for example to replace eggs in recipes. However, you should then make sure when buying that the taste is right or that it is a neutral product without aroma.
Why protein powder at all?
Proteins are made up of amino acids, and these are the building blocks from which the body makes new cells. Proteins are therefore essential for building and maintaining muscle mass and for maintaining normal bones. So what better way to consume post-workout than a protein mix!
